Tips for a thumbnail that gets clicks

  • Use fewer words. Two to five large words read better on a phone than a full sentence.
  • Make it contrast. Light text on a dark background (or the reverse), with an outline or shadow.
  • Show one clear subject. A face with a strong expression or a single product works best.
  • Check it small. Zoom out to phone size before you export. If you can’t read it, nobody can.

Usage terms

These backgrounds are free to use in your personal and commercial YouTube thumbnails, videos and social posts. No credit required, but a link back to Free YouTube Thumbnail Makers is always appreciated. Please don’t sell or re-upload the pack as your own.
